The Project Linus Chapter of Wake County, NC was started in 1996 by Susie Holmes. Over 50,000 blankets have been delivered to many local groups and agencies that help seriously ill or traumatized children who need a HUG from a blanket including: Wake Med Hospitals, Rex Hospital, Duke Hospital NICU, Safe Space (for children of abused women receiving support), Hospice (for their Reflections program for grieving children and teens), Make a Wish Foundation, the children at Salvation Army, Children's Flight of Hope, and Wake County Social Services.

Blankets for Children's Flight of Hope

Our Project Linus chapter now distributes blankets to Children’s Flight of Hope, whose mission is to provide air transportation to and from medical facilities for seriously ill or injured children (with their families or guardians) who--due to medical, financial, or logistical reasons--are unable to travel by any other means to receive medical treatment.

We are collecting special blankets for these special passengers.  Specific requirements for Children’s Flight of Hope blankets:

  *  Lime Green and Carolina Blue fleece (solid colors are preferred)
  Fringed or crocheted edges
  *  Approximately 36”x42” (to fold up and fit into a backpack with other supplies for the plane trip)

Drop off your finished blankets at any of our regular drop sites, which are listed in the column to the right.  Thank you for supporting Children’s Flight of Hope and for providing a blanket hug to comfort a child.
