The Project Linus Chapter of Wake County, NC was started in 1996 by Susie Holmes. Over 50,000 blankets have been delivered to many local groups and agencies that help seriously ill or traumatized children who need a HUG from a blanket including: Wake Med Hospitals, Rex Hospital, Duke Hospital NICU, Safe Space (for children of abused women receiving support), Hospice (for their Reflections program for grieving children and teens), Make a Wish Foundation, the children at Salvation Army, Children's Flight of Hope, and Wake County Social Services.

Dear Project Linus of Wake County,
Thank you for your donation of blankets to the Sandhills/Moore County, NC chapter. The blankets will be donated to TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors), specifically for military children who have lost a parent. During the year, TAPS holds Good Grief Camps for surviving children across the country. These blankets will be used to support the Good Grief Camp in Colorado Springs, CO and Columbia, SC. There are usually 135 to 165 children attending each camp. Sometimes the Project Linus chapter coordinators in the Good Grief Camp area can provide the number of blankets needed. Without the help of Project Linus Wake County, the children would not receive the special comfort and support found only in a Project Linus blanket.

Many blessings and many thanks,
Pat Weber, PL Chapter Coordinator
Sandhills/Moore County, NC
