The Project Linus Chapter of Wake County, NC was started in 1996 by Susie Holmes. Over 50,000 blankets have been delivered to many local groups and agencies that help seriously ill or traumatized children who need a HUG from a blanket including: Wake Med Hospitals, Rex Hospital, Duke Hospital NICU, Safe Space (for children of abused women receiving support), Hospice (for their Reflections program for grieving children and teens), Make a Wish Foundation, the children at Salvation Army, Children's Flight of Hope, and Wake County Social Services.

A Beautiful Thank-You Note

We received the following thank you note at HQ. I don't know which chapter provided the blanket, but again it's a thank you to all:
My wife and I are in the process of adopting a six-year-old boy who has spent most of his young life in the foster system. Today, we began to go through his things for the first time. Most of his clothes didn't fit, his toys were second hand and dirty... a sad testament to life in the foster system. However, at the bottom of one of our son's cardboard boxes of items we found a blanket that was worn and obviously well-loved. Inscribed on the corner of this blanket was a Project Linus tag. Our son made it very clear that this blanket is a prized possession. In a dark world that is full of sadness and pain, your organization gave our son comfort. Words cannot express our gratitude. Thank you.
