The Project Linus Chapter of Wake County, NC was started in 1996 by Susie Holmes. Over 50,000 blankets have been delivered to many local groups and agencies that help seriously ill or traumatized children who need a HUG from a blanket including: Wake Med Hospitals, Rex Hospital, Duke Hospital NICU, Safe Space (for children of abused women receiving support), Hospice (for their Reflections program for grieving children and teens), Make a Wish Foundation, the children at Salvation Army, Children's Flight of Hope, and Wake County Social Services.

Make A Blanket Day...Six Days Away!

We're so excited about our 2012 Make A Blanket Day!

When: Saturday February 25th, 2012
Time: 10am to 3pm
Where: 201 East Hargett Street, Raleigh, NC downtown. Venture Hall is in the IMAX theater building across from Marbles Kids museum.  Look for signs.

Parking: Parking is available for free on the streets and in the Blount Street Parking Deck which is located between Morgan Street and Hargett Street.  The parking lot directly behind the theater/museum is not free on weekends, but you are still welcome to park there.

    ***** If you would like to drop off your items, please drive up to the back of the theater to the large metal garage-like door. Then you can park.
    ***** This also applies to anyone who would like to drop off blankets, fabric or yarn to donate.

What:  Bring your own supplies to sew, knit, crochet. If you are bringing your sewing machine, please try to bring an extension cord. We will have fabric if you would like to start a quilt, some fleece and some yarn to make tie blankets and other wonderful tasks!!!!!

Other stuff:

We will have light snacks and water (until it runs out). Be green and bring your own closeable water bottle to fill up with the drinking fountain.


If you would like to bring a snack to share, that will be appreciated but purely optional.
For lunch, Roly Poly restaurant is in the same building, and Subway is across the park (just a 3 minute walk). You are welcome to bring a lunch too.

The Cary Blanketeers Are On The Move

The Cary Blanketeers have outgrown their meeting space at AC Moore!  They have found a wonderful new place with bright natural light, comfortable chairs...and a coffee shop!  Join them at 10:00 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at The Gathering Place inside Hope Community Church, 821 Buck Jones Road in Raleigh.  Contact Pam Wilson for more information.
